Analysis of the solid Surface, Krion, for the "Plataforma de Materiales" materials

Porcelanosa has relied on Ecopenta to perform the sustainability analysis of its Solid Surface Krion gamma to incorporate it into the GBCe material platform

The main purpose of the GBCe materials platform, lies in the willingness to facilitate and streamline the accreditation process on the environmental behavior of products and systems, as well as its general contribution to the environmental quality of buildings, for three of the main certifications: VERDE, LEED y BREEAM.

On these documents, prepared by GBCe associate professionals and reviewed exhaustively by a team of experts, independent of the GBCe, and, once validated, uploaded to the GBCe's online platform, together with a summary of the credits you can obtain with this product, for each certification.

En Ecopenta, disponemos de formación y experiencia acreditada en el uso e implementación de las tres herramientas de certificación que se incluyen en la Plataforma de materiales del Green Building Council España: VERDE, LEED y BREEAM

Ecopenta has training and accredited experience in the use and implementation of the three certification tools included in the Green Building Council España materials platform: VERDE, LEED y BREEAM.

Ecopenta has been responsible for the elaboration of one of these documents, specifically, the one for the Solid Surface KRION® family of products, (PORCELANOSA group). This system, contains a set of materials used for interior, and exterior, coatings and finishes, similar to natural stone, but composed of natural minerals and a low proportion of high strength resins.

In order to prepare the product sheets, Ecopenta studied the potential for sustainability of the KRION® family versus VERDE, LEED and BREEAM certifications, and collected the necessary information.

Each document, studies different credits, for which, it defines:

  • The purpose of the credit, with a brief description of it.
  • The compliance data of the product, with an explanation of the tests to which it has been submitted and its levels of accreditation.
  • The evaluation procedure, that describes the parameters to which it complies and the score obtained in relation to them.
  • Analysis examples.
  • Support documents, that accompany and serve to corroborate hat is described in the compliance data.
  • The reference standards of the product.

In Ecopenta, we believe in the need to continue developing these documents and expand the catalog of certified materials and products, to encourage the use of these and facilitate the certification work for projects, in order to increase the number of buildings designed and built consciously and respectful with the environment.
